It was released at the same time as the International Superstar Soccer Pro 98, developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo (KCET) for Playstation.
Although the game is not licensed by FIFPro, Italian striker Fabrizio Ravanelli was featured on the cover with German goalkeeper Andreas Koepke (in the German version) and Paul Ince (in the British version). On the cover of the North American version was Colombian player Carlos Valderrama and the use of the Reebok license to use his logos on bulletin boards and the shape of the Chilean national team.
Game modes
International Superstar Football 98 had 6 different modes of play:
Game: Friendly match against a computer or other player with stadium options, weather and time of day, as well as inconvenience in the game (player status, goalkeeper strength and number of players on the field, from 7 to 11). You could also watch the CPU matches against the processor.
International Cup: In this mode, the player selects a team from the region and tries to join the team in the International Cup 98, starting in terms of regional ranking.
World League: 48 international teams take part in the round match of the tournament.
Scenario: 16 situations in which the player is placed in the current game. Depending on the level of difficulty, the player must secure victory (in singles) or win the match by unpacking or winning the game (at higher levels of difficulty).
Criminal mode: Two teams take a series of five penalties to win. In the event of a draw, they will die suddenly.
Training: Practice free throws, corners, defensively and play with your chosen team. The player is also free to train on the field without an opponent’s team.
