The edition included two national leagues and new game modes, although it does not include all existing international teams like the previous one. The game was on the market for PC, PlayStation, Game Boy Color and Nintendo 64
Based on the graphics engine presented in FIFA 98, the sixth part of the saga has improved the graphics and appearance of players, corrected artificial intelligence errors and expanded the range of animation, with new movements and a basic face animation package for players. In terms of the previous opus, it has gained in lightness and the style of play is more arcade and simplified than in other sports games like iss Pro Evolution (Nintendo), which is chosen to model.
New game modes have been introduced, with fast friendly games, gold goal games and the ability to create individual tournaments. In the national leagues, the Malaysian league was eliminated and two new tournaments were introduced: the first Belgian and the Portuguese league. In addition, a group of unused teams was included in a league game called “Rest of Europe,” which consists of teams in European competitions of the 1998/99 season. Another innovation was the fictitious international league, the Europa League, in which the top 20 European teams played. In contrast, the indoor football regime was eliminated and the number of international teams reduced to 42. It also highlights the absence of Ronaldo, who is listed as A.Calcio.1 at Inter Milan
