About The Game

The Long Dark is a survival adventure game developed by a small independent studio, Hinterland Studio Inc. It is an exploration game that will take you on a long survival journey. In this game, zombies are not just your enemies. You will also have to fight against yourself, the cold and all the possible threats of nature. This survival simulation game play mode solo . You’ll explore the vast frozen wilderness on your own after a geomagnetic disaster and see how long you can survive and if you can last until the end.

Play in the different game modes

The Long Dark comes with three game modes . Wintermute mode serves as the game’s episodic story mode. It contains five lengthy episodes that focus on the relationship between Dr. Astrid Greenwood and the bush pilot named Will Mackenzie as well as their struggles for survival. The first two episodes, Do Not Go Gentle and Luminance Fugue, came out first and were revamped with a new mission structure, story beats, dialogue, animation, and more. Subsequently, Crossroads Elegy, the third episode was also released a few months after the two episodes. To complete the story, episodes four and five will be released at a later date.

In survival mode , your only goal is to survive . Keep in mind that this mode includes permadeath. When death strikes you, your saved game is deleted entirely and you have to start over from the beginning if you want to try your luck again. This mode is survival of the fittest . You will have to travel the world in search of more than 100 items of equipment, search for food that will save your life, and watch your hunger, thirst, fatigue and cold. Survival mode offers various experience modes, which allow you to choose the game difficulty that suits you best. It goes from the easiest mode, called Pilgrim, followed by Traveler mode, Tracker, and the more difficult mode, Interloper.

Additionally, The Long Dark also offers five shorter challenge modes that can be played for 1-3 hours each. One of these challenges is called Chassé . You must escape from a murderous bear. Once you successfully complete the game, you will be able to unlock an achievement that will benefit you, especially in the long-term game of Survival Mode.
